Advice for Doctors: Try to Accommodate Non-Urgent Patient Requests

The  National Post and The Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says hospitals and clinics should resist patient requests to be treated by doctors of a particular race, religion or sex. Lonny Rosen advises that if a patient asks for a health care professional of a certain gender or ethnicity, among other things, and the request can be met in a reasonable time so not to jeopardize patient care, then it’s probably in everyone’s interest to accommodate that request.
