Elyse Sunshine Comments on Vaccination Case
A recent Globe and Mail story about a physician's ill-advised approach to vaccination raised questions about the regulation of physicians. Elyse Sunshine observed that the story served as "a reminder that parents need to make sure they have basic knowledge of their child’s health care, and to ask questions if they don’t or if something seems out of the ordinary". Noting the measures regulatory bodies take to police physicians, Elyse argued that the system of self-regualtion is not broken, and that this case did not reveal a systemic problem.
