Lonny Rosen Named as Recipient of OBA Health Law Award

The Ontario Bar Association has announced that Lonny Rosen is the first recipient of the OBA Susan Hilary Davidson Memorial Award for Excellence in Health Law.

Lonny will be honoured at the year-end dinner program of the Health Law Section at its Twenty Toronto Street Conferences Centre on Monday, June 20.

The award is named for the late Susan Hilary Davidson, in recognition of her excellence and dedication as a lawyer specializing in the practice of health law. She was a dedicated member of the Ontario Bar Association throughout her legal career, and a leader of the Health Law Section. It celebrates the exceptional contributions and achievements of an Ontario Bar Association member who is practising in the area of health law in Ontario, including some or all of the following:

  • Outstanding contributions to and membership in the OBA Health Law Section;

  • Outstanding legal contributions to the practice of health law;

  • Embodiment of the spirit of professionalism, volunteerism and collegiality;

  • Outstanding contributions in the development of health law through scholarly and other writing and through public speaking on health law issues;

  • Outstanding mentorship contributions to other lawyers through personally sharing knowledge, experience and skills; and

  • Other exemplary achievements in the area of health law.

Rosen, certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a specialist in health law, has served as chair of the health law sections of both the Canadian and Ontario Bar Associations and as program committee chair of the Medico-Legal Society of Toronto. He is a member of the board of directors of The Advocates’ Society and a member of the executive of the CBA Health Law Section. He is also a part-time member of the Consent and Capacity Board.
