Sunshine to speak, Rosen to chair medico-legal event

Lonny Rosen and Elyse Sunshine are both involved in an upcoming Medico-Legal Society of Toronto event.

Part of the organization’s professional development and continuing education dinner program, the Medico-Legal Society of Toronto’s A “Pot Pourri” of Medico-Legal Cases will be held on Sept. 30 at the Doubletree by Hilton, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Lonny has chaired the dinner each year as the kick-off to the MLST’s programming year.

Elyse will speak on The Physician’s Right to Refuse to Provide Treatment on Moral Grounds: a Review of Recent Developments and the College Policy.

Other topics will include: the latest developments in professional regulation and discipline, the use of psychotropic medication in long-term care homes, Security National Insurance Co. v. Hodges ONSC 3627 (CanLII) and the implications for plaintiffs and defendants in catastrophic impairment cases, and William Osler Health System v. Ontario Nurses’ Association, 2013 CanLII 72709 (ON LA) and the interplay between Public Hospitals Act proceedings and labour arbitrations involving hospital staff
